RESTAURANT DISCOVERY AND OPERATIONS
Google Business Profile for restaurants: menus, hours and useful measures
Help a potential guest find the right menu, opening time and next step. Start with information you can verify, then use the profile’s available measures to decide what to check next. A profile interaction is not proof of a completed order.

Start with one real outlet and an authorised account
Confirm which location you are managing before changing anything. A similar trading name, a delivery-only brand or a second branch can lead to a plausible but incorrect profile. Keep the real outlet name, public contact route and official website together in your operating record. Resolve ownership issues through Google, not by creating another listing to work around them.
Google’s restaurant profile introduction links to its claiming and verification routes and describes restaurant-specific features. Use the account’s current controls: features can differ by business, country and provider. A Google login alone is not proof that someone may represent a venue. Do not publish private verification material or staff access details on this website.
Check the entire menu journey on a phone
Open your public menu link as a guest would. It should identify the correct restaurant and make the intended current dishes, options and prices understandable. A picture that is difficult to read, a staff-only page or a link to another branch creates avoidable uncertainty. Keep a responsible person and last-checked date in your own records.
The official menu-editor guidance explains supported menu edits and menu-link settings. It also notes that an API-provided menu may affect which editor is available. Follow the supported route for your account and inspect the published result after an update; do not assume an immediate display change or an upload notification proves that every field is correct.
If you use a generated transcription, compare it with the original restaurant-approved menu before publishing. Pay particular attention to a decimal point, an omitted option and a dish attached to the wrong price. The website’s menu workspace helps you investigate entered costs and popularity, but it cannot decide what you are allowed to claim about ingredients or dietary suitability.
Review exceptional dates and the destination of each action
Keep normal weekly hours and exceptional dates separate. Google provides special-hours instructions for temporary changes. Follow its current distinction between special hours, service-specific hours and closure status. This is more reliable than repeatedly changing a normal weekly schedule for each holiday.
Check ordering and booking links without placing a purchase. Confirm the branch, service offered and destination. Where several providers appear, examine the controls available in your profile and the agreement behind each service. Listing a link is not evidence of a universal commission or an integration provided by Food Data Extractor.
For a US outlet, record local time and the correct branch when checking the customer journey. For a UK outlet, be equally explicit about exceptional trading dates and whether a menu price relates to the intended service. Do not infer tax treatment or a legal trading permission from the Google listing. Use our US starting page or UK starting page for the relevant operational resources.
Read performance as evidence of an interaction
Google’s performance documentation describes profile measures and their availability. Performance information requires a verified profile and access through its associated Google account. Keep the metric’s own definition beside the result. A website click, a menu interaction, a direction request and a provider-recorded booking describe different actions. Do not add them together and call the sum customers or sales.
For a fictional example, imagine 120 website clicks during one declared period and 12 completed orders recorded by the restaurant. Dividing gives 10%, but it is not automatically a conversion rate from those profile clicks. The orders may have come from other sources, one person may interact more than once, and attribution may be incomplete. You need matching definitions and a defensible connection before claiming that the profile produced those orders.
Keep a simple change log: what changed, which location it affected, when it was published, what else changed in trading, and which measure you will review. Compare consistent periods and note exceptional closures or promotions. A rise after a menu edit is a reason to investigate, not proof of causation. Use a weekly review to choose one useful next action.

Tick an item after checking it in the appropriate official account or public view. These choices stay in this open page and are not saved or sent.

Choose the next improvement
If the information is wrong, correct that source before interpreting performance. If it is accurate but difficult to use, improve the menu journey and inspect it on a small screen. If enquiries arrive but the operation cannot fulfil them profitably, compare prices, stock and staffing in the resource catalogue. Increasing visibility does not resolve a kitchen-capacity or contribution problem by itself.
Ask for honest customer feedback through appropriate channels. Keep owner statements, independent observations and customer experiences distinct. Do not invent reviews, buy favourable ratings or describe an unverified photo as a first-hand visit. Food Data Extractor is a resource publisher, not the restaurant shown in a listing.
